The Lee County Early Head Start Program is a
high-quality child development program for infants, toddlers and
pregnant women. The intent of the program is to enhance children’s
development and health, strengthen family and community partnerships,
and support the staff delivering those services. Services are provided
to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.
Families will be served in one of the two service
models:
The center-based program option provides a
developmentally appropriate, licensed, child care experience for infants
and toddlers. Early Head Start classrooms have eight children in each
room with two credentialed teachers.
The home-based program option utilizes the Parents
As Teachers curriculum and serves families in weekly home visits.
Infants, toddlers and their parents come to school together two times a
month. The purpose of the group experience is to support child
development by strengthening the parent-child relationship. A variety of
learning opportunities are provided and parents are encouraged to share
their parenting challenges and joys with one another.
